Description:

A sequel to the Hannes Bok Treasury. Eighty more wonderful b&w plates and eight full-page color reproductions of paintings. These have been collected from the legendary Weird Tales and other science fiction, fantasy, and horror magazines of the 1940s and '50s. Includes illustrations for stories by H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, A. Merritt, etc. Occasional nudity. For the extra $5, this is the way to go. Full color, wrap-around jacket, cloth binding, double-page endpaper illustration not in the softcover. A handsome, permanent edition. Hannes Bok never achieved the fame of Virgil Finlay, but his style was just as unique and striking. He too favored beautiful women and classic bug-eyed monsters, but also had a humorous side to much of his work, never taking himself too seriously. He also was strongly influenced by Maxfield Parrish and many pieces here reveal this painterly side of Bok. Occasional nudity. Charles Miller, 1995 Mature Readers Out of print
